A low carb diet means that the intake of carbohydrates are minimised or removed and more foods such as vegetables, protein rich meats and fish and healthy fats are consumed.

  • Fish - haddock, trout, salmon etc
  • Meat - chicken, lamb, beef, pork etc
  • Vegetables - carrots, cauliflower, spinach, peppers, broccoli etc
  • Fruit - blueberries, strawberries, oranges, pears
  • High Fat Dairy - thick cream, cheese, yogurt, butter
  • Eggs

  • Oils and Fats - butter, lard, coconut oil, fish oil, olive oil

  • Diet & Low fat foods, dressings i.e. anything that says 'reduced fat', 'fat free' or 'low fat' 
  • Starchy vegetables i.e. potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn etc
  • Crisps
  • Milk
  • Sugar i.e. sweets, chocolate, fizzy drinks, honey, maple syrup + foods with 'added sugar' etc
  • Trans fat
  • Beans and legumes i.e. kidney beans, peas, chickpeas, lentils etc
  • Refined Grains i.e. cereal, pasta, breads etc that contain rice, wheat, rye, barley
  • Many Fruits including fruit juices
  • Beer
  • Sweetened Yogurt
  • Gluten Free foods
